Holiday Wrap-up: Part 2

Hello friends,

I am finally going to try to wrap-up our holiday pictures! I know it has taken me forever. :)

We left on Dec. 27th and headed for Indiana to visit with my husband's family. We love going there - but it is such a long drive. It takes about 16 hours - to get there - including stops along the way. Can you believe we made it in one trip? The kids did GREAT traveling, so we just kept on going! It was so great to visit with Grandma & Grandpa and see our cousins . . .

We had so much fun while we were there. We visited the Children's Museum in Indianapolis . . .

And one of the highlights of the trip for us is the COLD WEATHER! It is always fun for us to take a winter trip and see snow! Unfortunately, it didn't snow at all while we were there, but we did take a trip to "Perfect North" where you can ski and go snow tubing. We only did the snow tubing - but that was SO MUCH FUN for all of us! Can you believe that even Allie went down in a tube by herself? (Of course her tube was attached to Daddy and Grandpa.) That girl laughed all the way down. She is fearless!

We got our COLD WEATHER that day. We were outside for 2 hours in 16 degree temps. I hadn't been that cold in a long time! It took me hours to thaw out.
Here's Allie . . . she was so bundled up she could barely move. I don't know how you people up north deal with the cold everyday! I was quite wimpy in the freezing weather. :)

Devin loved snow tubing. He took off with his uncle and went down the BIG hills. He must have slid down that hill at least 20 times. As for me, I stayed on the little hill. That was thrilling enough for me. :)

They had a children's play area - and Allie had so much fun making snow angels.

Look at that wild hair - filled with electricity! :)

Allie and her cousin, Elizabeth.
Aren't they beautiful? I surely think so! :)
It was so good for Allie to have a girl to play with . . .

And one of the highlights of the trip was getting to meet Sarah and Sophie! I have often said that I truly feel that Sarah led us to Allie and she helped us so much during the adoption process. I just can't describe how wonderful it was to meet Sarah in person and watch our girls play together. I was so thrilled to be able to visit with them - and they are just as wonderful in person!

Allie LOVED Sophie - and is still talking about her!

I have watched this sweet girl grow up in pictures - so it was so great to see this beautiful face in person!

Just makes me so happy to see them together!

We surely did have a blessed holiday! It was perfect in every way and I am so thankful for the special times we got to spend with all of our family. Yes, such great memories to last a lifetime!

Have a fabulous weekend - enjoy each moment!

Ending with a scripture . . .

"The Lord is gracious and full of compassion, Slow to anger and great in mercy. The Lord is good to all, And His tender mercies are over all His works."
Psalm 145:8-9

Blessed,

I so love reading your blog. If you thought it was cold then we woke up in South Dakota this moring to 28 below zero this morning and Pollock SD was at -47. We just learn to live with it. I do hate wearing heavy coats though and would rather dress in layers. Allie is getting so big and stays so pretty!!!!!!!!

It is 16 degrees outside right now and I truly do NOT like living it every day! I am not a winter person and would love to live in dunny FLA... if it weren't for the humidity and my crazy hair - LOL!

Awww, Heather. We just love your family! Thank you so much for having us up to visit. I love the pictures you got of the girls together! They are truly miracles and I am so honored to have been a part of your journey to Allie! It is so wonderful to have these pictures of our girls together and I look forward to hopefully seeing you in FL in June.

Love, hugs and FROG!

Sarah

Great pictures! Looks like a lot of fun! I have a question and a request ... Q: do you buy winter coats and boots for the kids just for this annual trip? Your kids look so cute, but I can't imagine getting all that winter gear ready for once a year! Also, a request ... I would love to hear more about your connection with Sarah and Sophie ... I had no idea that she inspired you! Have you written about this? Allie and Sophie are so cute together!

Allie is getting so big!! It is so funny that she is fearless.

Great post. I loved seeing the boys having fun in the snow. Now, for your question about how us in the North stand the cold WE STAY INSIDE, or at least I do. I HATE the cold (currently record lows). Snow isn't really my thing either. So, I suffer. Other times it is beautiful. You were very brave!!

It is so fun to meet other Guat families, especially ones that we have really connected with. You will cherish that forever.

Of course my favorite pic is the one with the frog.
Know that I'm continuing to pray!
Romans 8:26-27 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

love the pictures!

I had to laugh though about you being freezing in 16 degree weather .. here in Montreal it is
-23 (yes in Farenheit) today!!! Frostbite in 4 minutes!

Since you live in Florida, when is the earliest that is good to swim there? We're wanting to head down spring break - but I heard beginning of March is still too cold. Is that true?

I love your comments about the cold and snow!!! You should visit Canada sometime and really experience winter :) Right now we are having very unseasonably warm weather....makes for a great mess on the roads.

We are counting down the days until we come to Florida!! We can't wait to experience your weather.

Is it true that you can buy Disney tickets at 7-11 stores? With our dollar dropping we need to find a way to make our trip a little less expensive. Any tips from you or your readers would be greatly appreciated!!

Heather it looks like you all had a great Christmas. Allie looks so beautiful in everything she wears. I love her smile, she looks do excited in all her pictures. Snow tubing looked like fun, I've always loved riding sleds and tubes. I know the boys loved that. Allie looked so sweet making snow angels. I'm not used to seeing them dressed for winter weather. I wish I lived in Florida right now, lol. It has been zero here the last few days, below zero with the wind chill. Our high today has been sisteen degrees. Sophie has grown so much, she's just beautiful. Her and Allie look so sweet together.
