*EDITED TO ADD . . .
I received the very first copy today of
**Jacob's Book **
And it is just perfect! I cried all the way through it as I looked through each page. It turned out just the way I wanted and I am so excited to have this treasure. The boys have already spent most of today looking through it. Some parts are definitely hard to read - but it is the story of my son and this book is priceless to me!
I have been working away on Jacob's book - whenever time permits. Unfortunately that isn't often anymore - but thankfully I got most of the book done before Allie came home. When I was working on the book, it didn't take me long to realize that there was no way I was going to be able to do Jacob's story in one book. It is just too long - I never knew I wrote so much! :) I have divided our story into 4 books. The first 2 are about Jacob's life. The 3rd book is about GRIEF and the year after we lost Jacob and the 4th is about our journey to Allie. Most likely I will continue printing these books as I continue to blog because I love having these journals of our life for the kids to read when they get older.
There are several things I want you to know about the book. First - it definitely has lots of pictures - in fact I used almost 300. But this book is basically a copy of my journal from the Caringbridge website. I did write an introduction and edited some of the journal - but this is not a "new" story written by me. There was also no professional editing done - so the book more than likely has errors in it somewhere. :) Also - I am making no money at all from these books. The cost is determined by the publishing company and that money goes to them. I did not raise the price of the book to make a profit. And this is only Book 1 - starting from the beginning of our journey and stopping in August 2005. Since I am so pleased with this book, I will work on getting Book 2 published after the holidays.
This book was done for my children - but it is available to purchase to whoever would like a copy. You can view a preview by clicking the badge below. Thanks to everyone who has been so patiently waiting for a copy!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
Hello friends,
I absolutely LOVE Thanksgiving! I love the food, the parades, spending time with family - and going Christmas shopping the day after. I love the smells and the traditions. This time of year is simply magical and I just want to savor each day. We are spending Thanksgiving at my mom's house this year with family and good friends and we are all looking forward to eating lots of good food!
There is so much to be thankful for this year. So many times our days are busy and hectic and it is hard to slow down and reflect on all the blessings in our life. Thanksgiving makes us do that. It makes me aware of how faithful our God is and how thankful we are that he showers us with forgiveness, grace and love. It makes me aware of how much my husband does each day for our family and how thankful I am to be married to him. It makes me aware of each hug I get from my guys and how thankful I am to be their mother. It makes me aware of Allie's giggle and how thankful I am that she is home. It makes me aware of my mom's good cooking and how thankful I am for all that she does for us everyday. It makes me aware of the fact that I am missing Jacob - especially today - but how thankful I am that he was my son. It makes me aware of how many blessing surround me everyday and I am so very thankful not just at Thanksgiving . . . but everyday!
We went last night to have family portraits done and to visit with Santa. I don't know how many more years I can get the boys to sit on Santa's lap - but they were more than willing to go this year with Allie! :) Having portraits done is pure torture for the boys - but we managed to get through it and were able to get a couple of good pictures. Allie wasn't real smiley . . . she does so much better with me at home! I scanned the pics - so they aren't the best quality - but I loved them - and are so thankful holiday portraits are over with for another year! Do you know how hard it is to get everyone to smile and look at the camera at the same time??? :) The pictures were done by The Picture People.
I took these at home before we left . . . look at my girl standing up all by herself!!! I think she is just beautiful!
I hope you all have a very Happy Thanksgiving! May your blessings be abundant.
Ending with a scripture . . .
"It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to the Most High."
Psalm 92:1
Giving thanks to the Lord,
**There is also a new update on Jacob's page!

I've already been to Jacob's website and checked out the update and decided to stop by here. I'm so excited that your book is published and can't wait to get my hands on a copy. I love the pictures or your family - beautiful, as always. I pray you have a blessed day tomorrow.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Wow, that is so great that you got your book completed. I have been following your site for some time now. I did not realize that Jacob and my son Ryder were diagnosed so close to one another. Ryder's Hodgkin's was discovered on Jan 15 of 2004 and he began treatment on Jan 29.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

You have a beautiful family. Allie is getting SO big!! She is beautiful in her dress
I have read your CB journal all along. I look forward to your other books.
Enjoy your holiday.
Happy Thanksgiving, Duckworth family. Although I don't comment here or on Jacob's CB guestbook often, your family--and especially Jacob--have a permanent place in my heart. Way, way back when I first started reading Amazing Jacob's CB page, I was immediately captivated by him. When I read that his battle was over, I put my head down on my desk and cried and cried. Even while knowing he is in the best place of all, smiling down on his wonderful family.
I would be so honored to purchase a copy of your book, Heather. Can you please tell me how to get one?
Again, have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving! I absolutely love the pictures. The boys are just so very handsome and Allie is gorgeous. I am so excited about the books. I checked out the preview and you are right...it's perfect! I have been challenged and encouraged over the years as I have followed the story of your family. You have so honored our heavenly Father and Jacob. Blessing to you all this Thanksgiving holiday!
To die for ! ! ! Is that the greatest blog intro on the whole Internet ?! You and Allie could open a design studio in your "spare time" - oh yeah ! Your mother would probably shoot herself if she read that !
I just bought the book. I may have to mail it after I read it, to have it autographed. The first sixteen pages were bittersweet - but chocolate.
I know your day is 99 % perfect and that makes me happy !

I wanted to let you know that had the pleasure of meeting your beautiful friend Sydney this past week. She is really special and I am so lucky to have found her site through Amazing Jacob's and to have had the honor of meeting her and her family.
I pray you are having a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family. I can't wait to hear all about Allie's first Thanksgiving with her forever family. What a special day this is.
With love, Kyle (New Milford, CT)

Those pictures are absolutely beautiful. And I love Allie's fancy red shoes!
Congratulations on publishing Jacob's book. The cover is wonderful. I'm sure the process of getting everything together for the book(s) was difficult. You're a very strong woman - I'm praying for you and your family.
Heather,
You continue to touch my life in so many ways. Whenever I visit your blog, I am reminded that we do have many things to be thankful for and that we should treasure each and every day we are given the opportunity to enjoy those blessings. Thanks for being an inspiration in my life.
Your family portraits are beautiful! Thanks for sharing! God truly has wrapped his loving arms around you all! God bless you!
Enjoy this wonderful holiday season just as Jacob is enjoying his celebrating in Heaven!

Heather, I just felt compelled to comment about the portraits you posted . . . There's one where you and your husband and all the kids together.
When I looked at it, Jacob's sweet face seemed to want to place itself right beside you in the portrait. The way you are leaning over, it looks a little unbalanced, but when you think that Jacob is sitting right there beside you, it balances perfectly.
Heather,
I love love love the last professional photo with the kids in a row. Allie looks....how to put it....like she's looking towards heaven as if an angel is speaking to her! So beautiful.
Your family is lovely.
Heather,
I have just set up my Blog and would like some help, if you have the time to give. I would like to personalize mine a little more and put pics of the kids in the center of my post and the list goes on and on. I would also like to choose whose comments go on the page before they just show up there. If you would please email me at kellydixon4960@comcast.net I would be ever so greatful. Also, I hope that you and the entire Duckworth family had a wonderful Thanksgiving and are moving onto Christmas only 4 weeks from tomorrow.
Love in Christ,
Kelly
I was wondering if you could recommend some Christian books to read? Thanks In Advance
Yes, Jacob still makes a difference in my world each and every day. One of the Christmas trees at my work is a frog tree! It is decorated from top to bottom with nothing but frogs. Each time I pass it I just have to smile and think of your amazing son!
