I hope you all had a great holiday weekend! We enjoyed a fun-filled 4th of July weekend with family - and as usual - I have way too many pictures! So I'll share a few today and some more tomorrow.
We had a cookout on the 4th at my mom's house with ribs, watermelon and Key Lime milkshakes - delicious!

We went over to Steve & Rhonda's for swimming and fireworks that night. Allie loved watching the fireworks and got so excited. I am always so blessed to "see" the world through her eyes. Her enthusiasm makes my heart smile.

Oh, so sweet!
Of course, I can't think of the 4th of July and fireworks without thinking of the following story again that someone sent me shortly after Jacob passed away. I LOVE the way it describes Heaven . . .
"This author describes the death of a child to an experience he had as a young boy, watching fireworks with his mother. He was so awed by the beauty of the fireworks that he unknowingly wandered away from his mother. She spent a desperate 10 minutes trying to find him, shouting and screaming his name, fear tearing her apart. And just as he turned to say, "Mommy, look at that one!" she appeared around the corner. For her, the separation was agonizing; for him, it was as if those 10 minutes simply didn't exist, he was so absorbed in the glory before him."
Yes - I am hoping that Jacob is so awed by the glory of Heaven that he doesn't realize we are separated! It is agonizing for me - but brings me peace in knowing that Jacob doesn't know this time apart exists. What a great thought!

Heather I started to get to know you and your family through Jacob's CB site and it brought me to so many others that I have been on my knees in prayer for. I had never heard of F.R.O.G. before and your faith was truly inspirational that I kept coming back through Jacob's illness, his heavenly healing, and beyond. I love the honesty that you display on this blog and many times the scripture that you put on your posts are just whisperings from the Holy Spirit that my heart was longing to hear without even knowing it. I thank God for learning of you. You a wonderful creation of God's and know that today you have blessed me!!
Jacob is perfectly happy, never doubt that.

I've followed your site from caringbridge and now to your blog. I do not know you personally but feel like I do and a couple of years ago we were at Universal and I think it was the same time your family was also traveling there . . and I thought if I run into this family I'll probably run and hug you like a long lost family member. Your words penetrate to the core of truth and I find them completely inspiring in the best of times and in what was the worst of times. We never realize the numerous ways there are to witness but I do believe you can witness through what seems like an old computer ~ and you do it beautifully. Everything about you seems to define exhuberance! you give it your all no matter what and I think that is exactly how we are supposed to live. No matter what the circumstance you give God the glory. I think you are a wonderful sister-in-Christ. Thanks for setting such a wonderful example for all of us to aspire to follow.

I used to comment on Jacobs sight quite frequently and when he went to find Glory in Heaven....I grieved for days about it. I always pictured miracles and didn't realize the miracle was him going to Jesus.
You inspired me so many ways. You brought me closer to Heaven. Your undying love for your children and for God was like an awakening for me. I always thanked you for that.
I love your new blog though too. I am not interverted and I am very blunt and honest and like attention. I admit it. But I think the biggest reason I love your blog is because I can still remember that happiness is always there, we just have to find it.

Looks like so much fun! I love the pics of you all decked out in red, white and blue! Beautiful! I also love how you continue honor Jacob in everything your family does together - whether it is a cardinal spotting or a special story about fireworks. And ... welcome home Baby Joey!
